March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb

As I looked out of our office window today, I couldn't believe what I saw.  Huge and plenty of snowflakes dropping from the sky.  It was beautiful!!!!  I quickly grabbed my camera and took some photos before this short March snowfall ended.  Here are a few shots of the snow falling out on the flint hills of Kansas.  Enjoy!

Snow and horses

It was so pretty out this morning as the snowflakes on the dry wildflowers glistened in the sun.  If you look closely at the first photo (to the right of the left wildflower), you can see three snowflakes that blew off of the wildflower.  While photographing in our yard, the horses came over hoping to get a treat.  It looks like they were enjoying the snow too as you can see by the photos I've included below.

We're free!

"We're free!"  That's how our two horses and four donkeys looked like when we let them out into the pasture after they had been confined to a few acres for a few months while my husband moved the fence closer to our entry road (see first photo below),  The photos below are my favorites that were taken while riding the tractor and following them around the pasture.  To see a slideshow of all of the photos, click here.  Enjoy!

A beautiful Thursday sunrise

Before I found God at an Apostolic church, I would look at nature and know that there was a supreme being out there that had to have created the beautiful and intricate things in nature.  Those discoveries were made as a child growing up in Baltimore, in a home situated in a city park.  When I started delving into photography, it intensified my awareness of the beauty of nature.  I don't normally get up early, but had to photograph this beautiful sunrise that God provided for humanity for us to enjoy.  Here are four stages of the sunrise from this morning for your viewing pleasure.

Sunset on the Prairie

I just happened to look outside and noticed the beautiful colors in the clouds and quickly grabbed my camera and tripod to get a few shots before this beautiful sunset disappeared.  I have included the few shots that God provided for your viewing pleasure.  Enjoy!!!

Sally & Jane join The Smith Ranch

Sally and Jane are two jennies (female donkeys) that recently joined The Smith Ranch. Sally is the white spotted donkey and Jane is the furry brown/gray donkey. Their family-to-be were very excited to receive them.  Their welcome was very lively and made for a fun photo session.  I have included my favorites for your viewing pleasure.  To view the whole adventure from start to finish, click here.

Bugs for dinner, yuck!!!

The circle whole in the front of the birdhouse is too small for birds, so a wren created a nest inside by entering in the sides of this birdhouse. This mother wren is leaving the birdhouse to get some bugs for her babies.
I watched her from my kitchen window as she flew back and forth feeding her babies.
Not sure but I think she has a baby wren in her mouth as she did not have it before she entered the next.  Then she flew off.
You suppose she noticed me taking her picture?
Got on our tractor and went touring in the pasture to get some wildflowers shots but ended up with a shot of our neighbor's horse, Reese.
